Doma Title Insurance, Inc. appoints Christina Blum as Vice President, Regional Underwriting Counsel for Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma

MIAMI – July 1, 2024 – Doma Title Insurance, Inc. has appointed Christina Blum as Vice President, Regional Underwriting Counsel for the states of Texas, Louisiana and Oklahoma. In this position, Blum will support independent agents throughout the tri-state area, as well as Doma Enterprise and Lennar Title in Texas.

Prior to joining Doma, Blum served as assistant vice president and underwriting counsel for a national title insurance underwriter, where she made underwriting decisions for complex residential and commercial real estate transactions and provided underwriting support to company and agency offices. Previously, she held the position of senior associate attorney for Langley & Banack, Inc. in their Banking and Real Estate Section, drafting legal documents for real estate deals and representing commercial buyers and sellers in transactions.

Early in Blum’s career, she worked as claims counsel for a national title insurance company, eventually working in recoupment and debt collection for the company. In that position, she drafted and prepared legal documents, reviewed real estate contracts and coordinated debtor investigations.

“Christina’s common-sense approach to underwriting, her willingness to listen and her creative problem-solving skills, which pave the way for agents to move forward with transactions, are tremendous assets for our agents,” said Danielle Kaiser, vice president, deputy chief underwriting counsel for Doma’s Midwest region. “Her positive attitude and commitment to client service make her a valuable addition to our team. In addition, her understanding of the procedural rules in Texas along with her skills in risk assessment fits well with our team’s philosophy of finding a solution while mitigating risk.”

Blum earned her Bachelor of Science in business administration from Elmhurst College in Illinois, and her Juris Doctor from Louisiana State University Law Center. She is a licensed attorney in both Texas and Nebraska; a member of the San Antonio Bar Association; and participates in the business law, corporate counsel, and real estate sections of the Texas Bar. A member of the American Land Title Association, Blum also serves as local legislative liaison for the Texas Land Title Association.

“Doma has a strong and growing base of agents and a collaborative teamwork environment, which is so important in a complex legal environment where sharing ideas and knowledge is critical,” Blum said. “Doma is known for its lower rate of claims and quick response times, which speaks volumes as to their attention to detail and dedication to agents.

“My goal is to make clear, concise underwriting decisions and present those decisions to our agents in a way that is understandable and easy to follow,” Blum added. “I believe agents learn from experience. Providing answers that incorporate education – giving the ‘why’ of the decision – is important for balancing risk and maintaining a great relationship with our agents and their customers.”

Blum is located in San Antonio and can be reached by email at christina.blum@doma.com, or by telephone at (210) 420-6723.
