National CE/CLE Webinar – Preliminary Reports & Commitments: Their Purpose and How to Read Them

Issuing a title insurance policy — an essential safeguard for all property owners – is a complex process. After a title insurance professional conducts a thorough title search to verify a property’s current owner and reviews the chain of title to report outstanding liens and encumbrances, a preliminary report or commitment is prepared. The preliminary report or commitment states the title insurer’s conditions for insuring the subject property.

Do you have a firm grasp on the purpose of these pre-policy products?

Part of our new Title Fundamentals Webinar Series, this 70-minute CE/CLE* webinar will define and discuss:

  • What a preliminary report and a title commitment are – and what they are not
  • How preliminary reports and title commitments are prepared
  • Requirements, obligations and liability risks
  • Exclusions and exceptions from coverage
  • Relevant case law

Whether you are new to title insurance or need a refresher course on this fundamental title topic, this webinar offers a basic primer on how to read and prepare preliminary reports and title commitments.
